Autumn Makes by Janice McFarlane

Its no secret that I love to crochet, which I do every evening while watching tv. Ive been making some autumnal decorations which I will sell. Ive done some wreathes, Patti Pumpkin and Squash her cat. My favourite is this cute mischievous little harvest mice pumpkin stack. This is my own design and originally it was just going to be stacked pumpkins with faux leaves and berries, but then I thought Ill put a little mouse on which then developed into 4 mice, one as a look out one popping out the top pumpkin lowering down a basket of berries to another mouse who is dangling from the basket and then another mouse delving into the middle pumpkin and got a little stuck. Finally a cute little sleeping mouse right on top of the pumpkin. I am pleased with it as my vision in my mind worked out well.

New member to the family by Sue Way

A few weeks ago my son and his family came home and something small and black ran across the room. It turned out to be a tiny kitten. They got it some food and a litter tray, asked the neighbours for help and one of them lent them a cat basket, so they took it to the vet. They found out she was a little girl, only about 4 weeks old and probably wild or dumped. They were about to go on holiday, so the vet nurses agreed to foster her until they got home. So here she is. 9 weeks old and still very tiny but with enormous ears! Out granddaughter Daisy loves her and has named her Kitty Little. She has settled in beautifully, but she did chose them to be her family. Here are my latest designs, with 20% off in my SALE.

It ..... by Carol Clarke

.. was another big busy running weekend again last weekend! On the Saturday my youngest son, Paul, was competing in a road race in Birmingham ... and he won another 2 gold medals!! Then on the Sunday my youngest granddaughter, Olivia, was competing in the cross country races at Retford ... where she came 9th! Bless her she was soo disappointed with her performance ... but shed run really well, especially as this race was her first in this age group ... and she was the youngest one competing in her race!! We were all super proud of her ... and she got to choose her treat for doing so well ... a ginger Boba drink! lol

Do You Ever Find... by Clare Walker

Do you ever find that you completely, utterly, *loved* a holiday or break away, and yet, after just a few weeks, it feels so long ago that it`s almost as if it all must have happened in a parallel universe? This is happening to me at the moment. It`s barely a month since we were in Mevagissey (pictured from the harbour). And yet so much has happened (although mercifully, most of it good) that our Cornish jaunt feels another world. On a more practical note, here are two of my new Hallloween themed designs.

Prepare to Leave by Vicki Avcin

The last week has seen big fires in the area to the west of us. Theyve been burning in inaccessible country and not a lot the firies can do except map it and monitor it by plane. The country is often used by 4x4 enthusiasts and trail bikes (which it is believed inadvertently started the fires in the very dry fuel loads). On Wednesday a Prepare to Leave advice was given as it came out of the high country and headed towards streets in the most western part of Flagstone. Weve had heavy smoke daily and had ash falling over us. Wednesday saw them bring in the large air tankers to lay retardant between the homes and the fire front. By Wednesday night it had got to 600m from homes. Come Thursday we woke to what looked like it was going to be another bad day with firies working hard to contain the fire and it wasnt looking good. About 11am the clouds started rolling in and I think everyone was out doing a rain dance hoping like heck that it wasnt going to be dry storm. We were lucky. Around midday down came the rain. It pelted down and the storm didnt just pass it hung around for around 3 hours. Some places about half a kilometer down the road actually got hail!. But it was enough to put out the majority of the fire. Yipee! Smoke cleared and everyone could relax. The fire has burnt out 2500 hectares in total. The area will be monitored for the next few days as there are still burning logs and trees which will smoulder for a while or trees will fall. They say there is a silver lining to things and the clouds, sun and smoke did make for some lovely silver lined clouds on Wednesday as the air tankers started work.
