Prom night! by Sue Way

On Wednesday, our oldest granddaughter, Jessica, had her prom night. She and her friends gathered at one of the girls houses and then drove to the prom venue in a red Cadillac. They all looked stunning in their prom dresses, and Jessica looked beautiful and happy in her glittery purple lace gown. They took lots of fabulous pictures, including some with the car. It was tough to choose one for my news story, but I love this photo where she looks serene and beautiful. She worked so hard on her exams, so she truly deserved to have a fantastic prom night.

Pansies by Vicki Avcin

I was doing the shopping a couple of weeks ago and saw these kits to be able to grow indoors. I was quite intrigued as I had been looking for something to send to my birth mother. She loves her garden and had the most fantastic greenhouse where she grew I think every imaginable orchid that could be grown as well as having a beautiful garden. As she is now in residential aged care (she is 92) sadly she cannot spend her days pottering around in her beautiful garden so previously I bought her a couple of smaller orchids so she could have them in her room. She loved them. A cousin that lives down there and visits her every week and he often takes an orchid in that is coming into flower and leaves it with her till the flowers die off and then takes it back to the greenhouse. When I saw these kits I thought it would be perfect for her to be able to watch them grow and be able to look after. I also decided Id buy myself one too just to see how they went. Now anyone who knows me knows that I can pretty much kill any plant I try and grow! But I was so pleased to see these little seedlings pop up. Im not sure how Mums are going but will find out when I speak to her next. Hopefully when I go down in August I will see a tub with some healthy plants in it too. I asked if she like pansies and she said yes so hopefully it will give her lots of pleasure with some pretty flowers.

This weeks designs are pansy themed. One a pretty circular card and the other a faux envelope style.

Three become Four by Janice McFarlane

For the last several months my son in law Paul has been deployed to RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus. This can be tough for families and this deployment time for my daughter and grandchildren has been tough this time round. In just a few months my daughter has had to contend with having their family dog put to sleep, flooding of their married quarter due to a burst pipe as well as other things. She works as a child minder and a youth worker three evenings a week as well as supporting her boys. From my point of view she has become superwoman as she counted down the days to 30th June. She never tells the boys when their dad is returning as she likes it to be a surprise. Happy faces all around as finally three become four again, and ready for the England match.

Dinner visitors by Tina Fitch

Here is my resident fox dog on the right and his daughter on the left. She come with dad daily now for her snack at Tinas cafe hahahaThere is two other cubs but they are really shy still and if they see me they hide, this little girl has no fear just like her dad , she will sit and let me throw the food to them but shes not let me get close as yet.I dont blame her really as they are wild and they should always be cautious as not everyone is like me.
