Cucamelons! by Sue Way

A few years ago, my husband bought Cucamelon seeds online. They grew so much that we had to buy two giant pots for them. When they started to flower, something looked familiar about them, so I checked online and they were actually chillies! We were disappointed but had to laugh. Fast forward to this year, he tried again. This time, the plant grew like a vine, as it should. A few weeks ago, the first little flowers appeared, which are now turning into the fruit cucamelon. Cucamelons are native to Mexico and Central America, where theyve been cultivated for centuries. Despite their name, theyre not a cross between cucumbers and watermelon plants, but rather a distinct plant within the cucumber family. Cucamelons are small, grape-sized fruits that resemble tiny watermelons and have a tart, citrusy flavour. I am not a great lover of cucumber, but cant wait to try one.

To be a cat. Look at this little cutey! She sure has the life. Wakes me up about 5am so I can let her out of the bedroom. She goes loo and then has a munch on her kibble and within 20 mins shes back on the bed. So as hubby and I get up and go about her day, where does she spend the day? Curled up (or stretched out) on our bed only venturing out at lunch time to see if there is any tasty morsels to be had. If not its back to bed. She comes out again around 4.30pm trying to tell us its dinner time but she has to wait till just after 5pm for her dinner. She is good on the weather forecasting though. If she washes over her ears guaranteed to rain within 48 hours. Lately its rained the day after we see her washing over her ears. So what a life she has…..sleep, eat, repeat!

This week features old and a new age birthday designs. The new one suits 1 to 12years boy while the old one is for a girl.

The Whole Tooth by Janice McFarlane

Harry is at the age where he is going to be losing his baby teeth a time of it seems great expense for parents. His first tooth had now come out to Harrys delight, but not so much for the parents as the Tooth Fairy fee for collecting the tooth appears to have risen to £5.00 per tooth. This apparently now the going rate which is ridiculous. I remember as a child I got a sixpence and I thought I was rich. It seems to be more competitive now, with children getting a fiver. However, my daughter is determined the fee will be no more than a pound.

Went to my happy place this week, weather really cold up there but its better for photography due to no heat haze.Heres the boss bird coming into land Thursday afternoon, a bit cloudy but plenty of blue skies in between, It was packed up there due to some rare F35s from Vermont stopping by. I didnt get to see them on this occasion maybe next time

Holiday travels by Judith Henry

Even though I have a broken shoulder, we made our City of lights Viking river cruise trip. We started in Prague, Czech Republic and ended in Paris, France. One highlight was the Rhine river travel through an area of many castles. We toured one castle that was over 50% restored. Wonderful artwork and original features.
