The Long and the Short of it!

Last weekend, my daughter and family were invited to spend the day on a longboat on the Thames River. The boat belonged to a friend of my son-in-law, an RAF reservist. None of the family quite knew what to expect and the children were pretty excited to be spending the day on the boat. Alfie also took along his girlfriend Sophia. I had numerous videos sent that day of their adventure. My daughter was quite impressed as to the size and facilities onboard. She was quite surprised that he had a washing machine and that he could also watch Netflix etc. They set off on their journey and everyone, including the children had a supervised go at the tiller steering the boat. I dont think anyone realised that these boats go very slowly along the river and what would normally be a half hour journey in their car to their destination actually took six hours in total including all nine locks which is very time consuming. They realised it was quite hard work in all but very enjoyable, and if anything they all slept really well that night.

Nearly Halloween by Sue Way

Weve had a bit of a Halloween theme going on this week. On Sunday, we visited our youngest granddaughter for the day. She loves cats, and as you may have seen in my previous stories, they rescued two black kittens at different times over the last year or so. So, we took her a Halloween gift - a Witches cat made out of black tinsel standing with its back arched. She loved it and carried it around with her most of the day. Later in the week, on our dog walk, we noticed a new post box topper, and of course, it had to be Halloween!

…. Youngest Grandchildren were competing once again this weekend. This time it was the North Nottinghamshire schools cross country competition. They were representing their respective schools and competing against children from other schools (most of the time they are representing Mansfield Harriers! lol) Olivia aged 13 won her race! And Austin aged 8 was representing his school for the very 1st time and came 53rd out of over 80 starters! I couldnt be prouder of them both. They ran sooo well! Olivia will now be going forward to represent Nottinghamshire at the next level!!

Feeding Squirrels Never Fails...

Yes, I`m biased. But as I *love* squirrels, autumn, (and the chance that comes with it to feed cuties like this one in the photo a *lot* of hazelnuts) is one of my favourite times of year. As we sat, nuts-in-hand, being visited/accosted by the park squirrels, all craziness of the world just melted away. And yes, we realised in full, just how lucky we were to be able to spend time doing this. If you have bigger concerns at present, please know that so many people around the world are thinking of you. And if, as for us, you can snatch these golden moments too, Id recommend handing out those nuts. Nothing beats stress like a squirrel.

CREATIVITY IS NOT JUST FOR THE LADIES

Well just admire the creativity in this little photo ... my husbands creativity ... my husband whose culinary skills now stretch to a salad ... my husband who is still able to surprise me and make me laugh. He makes the salad for when I come home from playing the organ in church and last Saturday this was the dessert he proudly produced. Hes such a sweetie !Ive been busy busy busy this week. All of my stepper calendars are now available in 2025 versions, and for any stepper calendar that you purchased in previous years, the calendar add on panels are now available for all the design. Ive also done a couple of new ones but havent made them up yet - I test out all my designs of course, so I hope you find the perfect calendars to offer to family, friends and neighbours.
