News & Updates from Craft Academy designs
As a child I never knew what Christmas was, I was excluded from all the things that most children enjoy about Christmas.
It was not due to religion, It is a long story which I do not want to share......So when anyone asked me what did I want to be when I grew up, I replied Santa Clause .
I read all about Father Christmas in the library, where I spent most of my time. I had always been into crafts since a very early age, It was all I knew. Making things from cerial boxes and old newspapers.
When I was finally able to be alone I made lots of things from nothing and gave them to people who had nothing.
I never wanted anyone to be sad at Christmas like I was. So I set about the task of making it happen for those who wanted to feel the magic of Christmas.
Every year I would make 12 rag dolls, dress them in Christmas outfits and give them to Causes who would Auction them to raise funds towards whatever it was they needed help with.
My dolls raised Thousands as most of them gained £1000 each. It made me happy. Then two years ago I wrote a book entitled, You have to believe in Santa. It was also the year that I declared official status as the 1st British Lady Santa.
Then a strange thing happened. I was on facebook at the time and someone told me about an organisation in Florida USA that was called Believe in Santa Foundation, A non profit organisation that visits children all year long, for some December would be too late.
This is because Some of the Children are dying and others may be caught up in a tragedy where they need their mind taken off a terrible thing that has devastated their little lives.
The Believe in Santa foundation has Santas all over, doing these great works in their own time and for no reward.
So I contacted The founder Keith Carson (seen in the picture) and told him that I would be pledging a good percentage of income from the sale of my book to help in his work and that I would begin to follow in his footsteps in the UK.
So He sent me this certificate. The book is not yet published and the work is still in front of me But I am so looking forward to getting stuck into this 2019.
The believe in Santa foundation are also building a real North Pole in the USA for Children to visit. They have lots of support and it will never be enough. I wanted to share this with you because I am so proud to be able to make a difference as a human being.
And I feel so blessed that Craftsuprint have accepted me as a designer on this space.
Support in any form works both ways for me. My moto has always been Make it happen, So that is what I am going to do, I have a personal fund raising situation to take care of right now but when I am done with that I have some really great plans to really make a difference.
I will keep you updated on my 2019 adventures.
