Beaded bracelets can be very fun to make. They also make great gifts. If you don't know where to start, here's the place.
Steps
-
Take the yarn or string and cut a piece off to fit your wrist loosely.
-
Leave 1-1.5 inches extra at the beginning and 1 inch at the end.
-
Tie a double knot at the end of the string, or tie a knot to secure one end of a metal clasp. Depending on bead hole size, extra knots may be needed.
-
Take your first bead and pull the string through the hole.
-
Continue to do this until you have 1 inch left of the string. If you have a metal clasp, knot it onto the string or yarn. Otherwise, tie a secure knot at the end.
-
Tie or clasp on to your wrist.
Tips
- Find an unusual bead and center it with other, smaller beads to make the center bead stand out.
- Try using just one bead in the center. Tie a knot slightly off center, then string the bead on, and tie another knot to hold it in place. This is in addition to the knots at the ends.
- Patterns make bracelets very pretty.
- If you choose, you can also use stretchy string, and then just tie both ends together. Just make sure that you can get it over your hand with out it breaking, and that you don't cut off the circulation to your fingers.
- Make the string longer and you can make a necklace the same way.
- Glass beads go nicely paired with gold or silver colored beads.
Warnings
- Do not have beads around young children. They may choke on them.
- If you do not leave 1-1.5 inches at the beginning and 1 inch at the end as extra for knots, it will be shorter and might not fit.
