Ever wanted to create a bracelet or necklace, but always have the wrong sized beads? Never have enough colors, or always mismatched?
Steps
-
Try to determine what kind of project you are wanting to do. If you are using it for accessories, and that sort of thing, or are you using it to add a bit of flair here and there.
-
If you are making a bracelet or necklace, or something of the sort, decide if you want larger beads, that may have a nice design imprinted onto the bead itself, or do you want simple, smaller, plastic beads. Some of the plastic beads glow in the dark. These also come in many other types, Being plain opaque, translucent, translucent with glitter inside, glow-in-the-dark, and many more. Plastic beads come in many different colors, generally do not break, and are great if you have kids working on this project. Other types of beads can be plastic, acrylic, metal, wooden, and some may even come in glass. Beware of this type should you have any allergies to anything, or have kids working with you. These come in many different colors, styles, and so forth. These generally make very nice things for teenagers and up.
-
Know what you need for seed beads. Seed beads are very tiny, and are great for detailed work. These don't fit onto most normal beading and jewelry cords, so you may need a special wire or something of the like to string it on.
Tips
- Keep them in one place. Otherwise, you may buy hundreds or thousands of beads that you don't need.
- Generally try to go for the packages with more beads in them, or the combination packs. They generally give more beads for your money.
- Some types of beads can do multiple functions
- The large beads with decorations on the bead itself is generally for fancy necklaces and bracelets.
Warnings
- If they fall on the floor, be sure to pick them up, as they can poke you, possibly mess up your back if stepped on the wrong way, or cause a hazard for falling
- Keep them away from young kids who may accidentally choke on them
