If you're interested in going beyond the mere painted wall, to give it just a bit more 'oomph!', the craft outlined here might just be what you're after. These steps will help you add a beautiful texture to a wall using only paint and the ubiquitous plastic bag.
Steps
-
Prepare the wall as you normally would, by cleaning it off and adding primer.
-
Pour your paint into a tray used for roller brushes. Crumple up the plastic bag and dip it lightly into the paint, getting just enough paint on it to cover one side without going in the folds.
-
Starting in one corner of the wall, press the plastic bag briefly to the wall to make an imprint. Repeat until you have covered the entire wall. When the imprints the plastic bag leaves start to get lighter, simply dip it in the paint again.
-
Replace periodically. Get a new plastic bag every so often to ensure the old one doesn't start to dry.
Tips
- You could also layer with colours, for instance texturing both green and blue for a neat effect.
- Try making stripes by putting tape on the wall around where you want to paint. This looks good next to normally painted stripes.
- For an added pop, paint the wall first with a colour that looks good with the colour you're texturing with.
