Here is how to make an adorable CD wallet/coin purse!
Steps
-
Place the CD case over the "Ugly" side of your fabric and trace the Square. Repeat this with another piece of the fabric.
- Cut out the squares using the scissors.
- Place the CD over one of the "Ugly" side of one of the fabric squares and trace it (trace the hole in the middle as well) Repeat with the other piece of fabric.
- Cut out the circles (and the holes in the middle)
- Put the circle shapes on top of each other, with the "Ugly" sides facing up.
- Using the needle and thread, sew the shapes together, with a running stitch, at the hole in the middle. Then sew the outer edges together, with a running stitch, and leave a little more than 1 inch open at the top.
- Using tweezers, pull the wallet inside out.
- Cut a piece of fabric a little more than 1 inch long, and a little wider than the opening at the top of your wallet.
- Sew the fabric onto the wallet under the opening, leaving some to hang over the edge of the opening (this will be how you close the wallet)
- Sew the button under the opening of the wallet. (on the side WITHOUT the hanging fabric piece).
-
Cut a small slit in the hanging fabric piece that the button can fit into.Make sure that the wallet closes snugly,so your money won't fall out!
Tips
- If you want to keep the fabric steady as you sew it, use pins to hold the edges in place.
- The opening at the top of the wallet should be a little bigger than a quarter (or the largest coin you want to fit inside).
- Use a messed up or old CD to trace,so you won't get pencil or permanent marker on it.
Warnings
- Be careful with all sharp objects used in this project.(Scissors,Needle,etc.)
