A floral princess crown is a beautiful accessory for a girl! No need to spend too much money on it; it's easy to make one. As long as you know how to braid, you will surely know how to create this floral crown.
Steps
-
Pick your flowers. Find a bouquet of flowers with bendable stems at least 3 inches in length (longer is better). It can be of only one type of flower, or a variety! Examples of flower types are: rose, lavender, daisy, clover, violet, daffodil, flax, and the tulip.
-
Hold 3 flowers and braid them. Hold the few flowers in your hands, placing the blossoms next to one another in a row. Yet keep the stems together. Then simply braid the stems. If your working with real flowers, be gentle so you don't break the stems.
-
Continue adding flowers. Add a flower to the braid before you reach the end of the current stems. Hold it with one of the stems and braid as though the two stems were one. Keep on adding new flowers and extending the chain in this way.
- Alternate flower varieties to enhance color, texture, and beauty.
-
Check the length. Every once in a while, keep an eye on the length. Make sure to not make it too long or too short. If too short, continue adding more flowers. If too long, carefully remove some flowers to your desired length.
-
Finish the crown. Finally, complete it by weaving the end stems into the first flower stems. Tuck in the loose ends into the chain. Make sure it is tight enough to not fall apart.
-
Crown the princess! It's time for the final step: crowning the lucky girl with your beautiful floral creation. Whether it's for you or another girl, make sure it's worn with delight!
Tips
- Daisies and clover are especially easy to braid into a flower crown. Their stems are really thin to work with.
- You may add some ribbons for an extra touch. Simply add colorful ribbons by knotting them onto the crown.
- This is a beautiful yet inexpensive gift for a girl. It is also very thoughtful to spend some time creating this for her.
- This can also be a flower garland if it is braided long enough without weaving the end stems together.
- If you need more hands, you can always have an assistant to help you hold the flowers together from becoming loose.
- An assistant will be helpful, especially when braiding the flower stems together. They may become loose, and you'll need keep them sturdy and in order. Otherwise, it may fall apart and you'll go back to square one again.
- Fake flowers are preferable: they last longer, and will not break easily.
- Be gentle and have patience. It may take a long time, but the results would be worth it. Rushing may just ruin the whole thing altogether, ending up in disappointment.
Warnings
- It may be frustrating if it is too complicated. Do not become angry. Instead, wait a couple of hours to calm down, or start again tomorrow.
- If the recipient is allergic to pollen in real flowers, consider using fake flowers instead. You don't want her sneezing on your creation!
- Don't braid too tightly or too loosely.
- Don't rush while creating this. If so, it may not come out the way you expect it to, and may be a mess.
