So you want to make a pillow. But not one that's super complicated, fancy or super good-looking(although you don't want to be sloppy)... then a throw pillow is your thing!! It's no-sew, fast and totally fun!
Steps
-
First, you are going to want something soft. It's no fun when you go to someone's house, and all they have is really hard pillows, but they look super-cute... yeah, it takes away the cuteness. Go to a fabric store, or collect some old (but not too old) shirts, blankets, bags, or anything that's soft and stylish.
-
Measure out the size of fabric. Usually 1 and a half feet is really good(make sure it's even on all four sides). Note that the size you cut, will not be the size of the finished product (it will be smaller).
-
Lay the two pieces of fabric so that the color/design/patterns are facing the outside(like how you imagine the pillow to look like). Cut slits 6 inches into both fabric pieces (towards the middle) about one inch apart, all the way around.
-
Tie double-knots with the bottom & top sections of each strip so that you end up with a fringe around the pillow. Please DO NOT DO THIS ALL THE WAY AROUND YET! Leave one side un-tied.
-
Stuff the pillow with stuffing, or scrap pieces of fabric. Continue tying the fringe until you reach the place where you started. You now have your throw pillow!
Tips
- For a bigger sized pillow, just use more fabric. Remember: the original size of the fabric you cut will not be the size of the pillow when your finished! Example: the size recommended in the article (1 and a half feet), will be only 1 foot around, because you cut 6 inch slits in it (the half foot of the 1 and a half feet). If you want, you can only cut 4 or 5 inches into it, just make sure you have enough room to tie a double-knot!
