Helium balloons are nice decorations for birthdays because they float instead of falling to the ground. If a helium balloon is just what you are looking for, now you have to inflate it.
Steps
-
Find a helium tank. You can buy these or rent them from party stores. If you will be blowing up lots of helium balloons very often, consider buying one, but if this is a one-time thing, rent one instead.
- Buy your balloons. You can use any balloons, but be advised that normal rubber birthday balloons will not stay afloat very long, so it's advised you buy the shiny mylar balloons specifically meant for inflating with helium.
- Place the balloon valve over the helium tank nozzle.
- Press down on the nozzle to release the helium and inflate the balloon.
- Let up on the nozzle when the balloon starts to get full. Make sure to do this gradually.
- Remove the balloon. Pinch the end of the balloon and slowly take it off of the valve.
-
Tie the balloon. Tie the balloon up with ribbon. You might also want to consider tying a weight of some sort to the bottom of the string so that your balloon doesn't float away.
Tips
- Mylar balloons do not have to be tied.
Warnings
- Do not inhale helium.
- Don't overfill the balloon.
