If you are putting on a puppet show for a school project, for a kid's birthday, or just for fun, but you need help, you have come to the right place! This article will show you how to successfully perform a puppet show!

Steps

  1. Write the script. This can come from an actual story, or you can write your own. It can include words, or it can be silent. Remember to include a beginning, middle, and end.
  2. Make the puppets and props. These, of course have to be the characters in the script you wrote. Be creative when making these. Some materials you can use are socks, fabric, paper bags, Popsicle sticks, or anything else you may have. The props can stand up by themselves, hang from the top of the stage, or you can hold them.
  3. Create a stage. One way to do this is to get a large cardboard box (without the flaps) and to cut an opening on the side opposite to the already open side. Then, cover the side that originally had the flaps and tape a piece of fabric on as a backdrop. Or, you can use cloth to cover a table and have the puppet show on the table. Another idea is to perform through a window.
  4. Practice the puppet show. You need to practice talking in the puppets' voices (if they talk) and be able to move them correctly.
  5. Perform the show. Make it interesting so that the audience will enjoy it.

Tips

  • If you perform with a partner you can have more puppets out at one time, or maybe two voices together.
  • If you make a mistake, improvise!
