Need a pair of warm fingerless gloves? This pattern is designed for any size hand. It has a beautiful sea shell pattern and a stretchy cuff. Just follow these instructions:

Abbreviations

  • SC = single crochet
  • DC = double crochet
  • FPSC = front post single crochet
  • BPSC = back post single crochet

Steps

  1. Record all measurements to make two identical gloves. Measure your hand using a fabric tape measure. Record the circumference of your wrist and palm. Record the length of your palm.
  2. Crochet the cuff.
    • Chain 30. Sc in each chain. Turn.
    • Sc in the back loop of each sc. Turn.
    • Repeat the previous step until the cuff is equivalent to the circumference of your wrist.
    • Record the number of rows in the cuff.
  3. Crochet the palm.
    • Sc in each stitch across the top of the cuff. Increase with a few extra sc dispersed evenly throughout this row until this row is equivalent to the circumference of your palm.
    • Sc in the first sc, *skip one sc, 3 dc in the next sc (sea shell made), skip one sc, sc in the next sc. Repeat from * ending with a sc in the last sc. Turn.
    • Chain 3, dc in the first sc, *sc in the center dc of the next sea shell, 3 dc in the next sc (sea shell made). Repeat from * ending with 2 dc in the last sc. Turn.
    • Continue alternating the past two rows until this section is equivalent with the length of your palm. Fasten off.
    • Record the number of rows in the palm.
  4. Stitch the side seam using a yarn needle and the same color yarn.
    • With right sides together, fold the glove in half. Stitch the side seam leaving an opening for your thumb. Fasten off.
    • Turn the glove right side out.
  5. Crochet a small stretchy cuff around the top of the glove where your fingers will protrude and around the opening for the thumb.
    • Sc around the opening. If a tighter fit is needed, decrease with a few less sc dispersed evenly throughout this row.
    • Record the number of decreases.
    • Alternate with a fpsc in a sc, then a bpsc in the next sc for the next 2 rows. Align a fpsc on top of a bpsc of the previous row. Align a bpsc on top of a fpsc of the previous row. Fasten off.

Tips

  • Shorten or lengthen the cuff.
  • Try crochet thread and a short cuff for a more delicate pair of gloves. Add lace to both ends of the glove.
