This bracelet is easy to make. It's a perfect first project for a beginning knitter. To make this bracelet, you need to know how to cast on, knit, purl, cast off, and sew a seam.
Steps
-
To begin, cast on 5 stitches.
- Row 1: Knit 5.
- Row 2: Purl 5. Alternating knit and purl rows creates the Stockenette stitch. On the right side, this stitch looks like a series of V's. The wrong side is bumpy, and resembles the Garter stitch.
- Repeat rows 1 and 2 until the bracelet is the required length.
- On a knit row, cast off. Leave a six inch tail.
- Thread the tail on to a wool needle and seam up the cast on and cast off row together using a duplicate stitch.
- Thread a 18 inch piece of yarn onto the thread needle. Tie a double knot with the yarn and sew the seams together with a simple whipstitch.
-
Weave in all ends.
