Reusing wool or yarn from old projects is a great way to participate in frugal living and Eco-conscious reuse solutions. Used wool often has kinks that need straightening out and this is simple to do following these instructions.

Steps

  1. Unravel the used wool from wherever you are obtaining it.
  2. Wind it around the stiff piece of cardboard.
  3. Secure the wool with a staple, tape, or similar item, to the cardboard.
  4. Immerse the entire cardboard and wound wool into hot, soapy water.
  5. Wash the wool thoroughly.
  6. Rinse. Hang out to dry on the clothesline.
  7. Remove the dry wool. Once dried, the wool can be unwound and you will find that it is ready for re-winding and use.

Things You'll Need

  • Piece of cardboard approximately 30cm/12" square
  • Used wool
  • Hot, soapy water
  • Pegs or clothespins to hang on the line
  • Foam ball or other item to rewind dry wool
