Drawings with clean lines and simple shapes make a great basis for needlepoint. Once you've found a drawing you like, you can transfer the design yourself.

Steps
- Begin by making a copy of the drawing.
- Outline the shapes of the drawing with a black medium point marker - this will make them easier to see for tracing
- Place your needlepoint canvas on top of the drawing.
- Using a fine tip, permanent non-xylene or dye based marked, trace over the lines of the drawing on the canvas.
- Let dry 24 hours before you start to stitch.
Tips
- If there are straight lines on the drawing, line them up with a thread of canvas. Otherwise line a thread of canvas up with an edge of the paper.
Things You'll Need
- Permanent, non-xylene or dye-based fine point marking pen. Good brands are Pigma Micron, SCA-UF from Pilot, Zig Fabric markers, FabricMate dye pens, or other pens made for marking fabric
