This quilt is fast, easy, and cheap. It is a good idea if you or someone you know is going to have a baby. You can use up to five different fabrics and you can mix and match.
Steps
-
Cut out 5 8 ½ inch squares of each fabric. For the fleece backing you will need 25 8 ½ inch squares.
- You will end up with 50 total squares. 25 square for the front and 25 for the back. Your baby quilt will be roughly 40 by 40.
- Lay down the fabric so that the matching patterns are in a diagonal form. Then you take the each fleece piece you cut out and put on the bottom.
- Once you have all the fleece pieces on the bottom you can start to sew. Pick up the first two pieces and stitch them together with the two fleece pieces touching each other, then you want to stitch them in ¼ of an inch. Continue to do this for the rest of the rows.
- When you get done you should have 5 finished rows sewn together.
-
Pick up 2 of the rows. Make sure the squares are lined up, and the fleece is touching back to back. Begin to sew ¼ of an inch. Repeat this 3 more times.
- Your final product should look ragged on one side and on the fleece side it will look like a quilt that has no edges showing.
Tips
- Ironing the cotton pieces before you cut them may help you cut them in more of a square shape.
Warnings
- Do not wash the fabric before you sew it. It will cause it to fall apart and it will be harder to sew.
Things You'll Need
