Create a paper helicopter. When you drop this helicopter from your hand it will slowly spin and fall until it reaches the floor.
Steps
-
Draw and cut out a rectangular piece of paper 4cm x 15cm.
-
Fold it in half and unfold.
-
Cut about half way down the crease that you folded.
-
Now, cut about 1/3 through the paper laterally a little below your first cut from the long edge.
-
Fold both of the sections you made in step 4 in like these pictures:
-
Fold the cuts you made in step 1 in opposite directions on either side, forward and backward. Then add a paperclip on the very bottom of the helicopter and you're done! Your helicopter should look like the picture in the introduction.
Tips
- You may have to cut the wings, so they are thinner or thicker, to get your best flight.
- Change rotors(wings) to see various amounts of air it can catch.
- Bend the wings upwards slightly. This will make it spin sooner.
- Also before you cut you can color the wings. Don't use crayons though, because the uneven weight of wax will ruin your helicopter.
- Use various sizes of paperclips, see which works best.
- Drop from as high as a 2 meter place.
Warnings
- Do not rip the paper.
- Be careful not to cut yourself or others with the scissors.
Things You'll Need
- Pair of scissors
- Index card (3 by 5 works best)
- Paper clip
- Ruler
