Making a DIY dustbin is more creative and interesting than buying a new one.
Steps
-
Get together all the ingredients as below and arrange properly on a working table.
-
Blow up a balloon. You can blow it in any size that you want your dustbin to be.
-
Fill the pail with water and tear the newspaper into small pieces (but not too small) and soak it into the pail of water.
-
Gently take out a piece of moist newspaper pieces and stick it onto the balloon.
-
Slowly wrap the balloon with the moist newspaper piece by piece. Don't wrap the whole balloon as there is a hole for you to throw your rubbish into the dustbin that you make later on.
-
Tear another newspaper into smaller pieces and stick it onto the balloon as the second layer. Put as many layers as possible so that your dustbin will be more thicker and stronger.
-
After finishing doing the layers, leave the balloon to dry.
-
When the balloon is dry, use a needle to burst the balloon and you will leave a nice, round shape as your dustbin.
-
Use the remaining newspaper to make a stand for your round dustbin. You can make it in your own way as long as you like it.
-
Paint the whole dustbin using watercolor or paint as finishing. You may also add some glitter glue on it to make it look nicer. Add your own decoration; be creative.
Tips
- Dry the dustbin before painting it.
- Using mixture of water + white adhesive (Both in same amount) to soak newspaper will give it extra strength when it dries.
Warnings
- Beware of slippery floors as you may spill the pail of water.
