Do you need a little place to store your trinkets? Are you in need of a place that you can place collectables without spending a lot of cash? Or any at all? Here's one that you can make at home with things around your basement.
Steps
-
Gather supplies: A small shoe box, a bowl, a spoon, flour, water, paint, a paint brush, and old newspaper.
-
Mix the flour and water in a bowl in a ratio of one part flour to one part water. It will look like a gooey mess, but that's fine! Keep going until it's kinda clumpy and thick.
-
Cut up the newspaper into strips about 1 inch wide.
-
Take one strip at a time, dip it into the paste and run your fingers along the strip to wipe off extra paste. You want the strips to be wet with paste, but not sopping wet. Place the strip onto the shoe box, smoothing it down with your fingers. Add more strips until the box is covered with one layer of strips.
-
You might want one or two layers of strips on the inside of your box, too. (You can't cover the lid because it won't fit on the box once the box is made fatter by the strips being added to the outside.)
-
Repeat step 4 two more times.
-
Let your box dry overnight or longer, if needed, until it is dry.
-
Using your paint and paint brush, paint your box how you want!
-
Let it dry overnight.
-
Fill your box with cool items.
-
Enjoy your new box!
Tips
- If you are a kid, ask your parents first!
- Don't fill the box with too much or it will break!
Warnings
- Don't inhale the mixture.
