Are you keen on making a club poster to go with your awesome club? Here is how to make one.

Steps

  1. Find some paper. Printer paper is an inexpensive resource for a small sign. For a bigger or more permanent sign, poster board is an affordable and worthwhile investment.
  2. Write the club name in bubble letters. It is generally a good idea to outline the lettering with a fairly thick, dark marker, and fill in the letters with a different color to add some visual interest.
    • Make sure that the sign is eye-catching and readable by your intended audience! Before you invest a lot of time into the sign, try taping it to a wall at the level you intend to post it, and see if it's readable and attention-grabbing to a person casually walking by.
    • Limit bright colors to details of the sign. A very bright background might seem like a good idea, but it often produces a tacky sign that is eye-searing to look at. Never write important details in something like hi-lighter.
  3. Decorate! Draw pictures relating to your club, add stickers or borders, or print some clip-art from the internet.
  4. Ensure that all important information is included on the sign. If the sign is just to alert people to the presence of your club, the name is all you need! You may also want to include meeting times, goals, officers, or club rules. (Make sure you have enough room on your paper for all of this information!)
  5. Laminate the poster. This can be done at a store like Kinko's or Office Max. If you cannot afford to do that, a solution for a temporary sign would be to very carefully cover the paper with clear packing tape or contact paper. (Tape will ruin your sign with age, but it will last a good amount of time before it does.)
  6. Hang your poster up on the club door to let people know it's the club room.
