Nature At It's Best...

This is the amazing site that greeted me last weekend when i ventured out into our rear garden.I was supposed to be having a tidy up but was so mesmerised by what i saw all thoughts of weeding and sweeping went clear out of my head. It went on and on into the distance and covered every inch of sky that i could see...just breathtaking! I am sure there must be a name for this kind of cloud formation but i am not very clued up with such things,i am glad that i thought to take a photograph though! Here are two of my favourite designs this week...

1st Birthday Celebrations...

Last weekend we went to my (borrowed) grandson Max's 1st birthday party....i say 'borrowed' as he is actually one of my best friends grandsons along with 2 year old Alfie, but not having any of our own at the moment i have 'adopted' hers!....i am Nanny Murray! Max was a long awaited little bundle after years of trying and the horrors of an ectopic pregnancy. He is just the most adorable little boy and so advanced for his age too.He has only been walking for a short time and is,naturally, curious about everything. So, for now, my husband and i can enjoy all of the wonderful pleasures of being 'grandparents' without the baby sitting duties!

1000...at Last!!

This week i finally reached my 1000th upload target...yahhhhh!! It has taken me almost 3 1/2 years to get there but i have enjoyed making every single one of the cards....now i only need to upload another 1000 to become a Platinum Crafter... i may be some time! I even managed to find time to bag some of the recent ones up ready for sale, something i find difficult to keep on top of,i usually have them spread around me....now my craft room is looking so much tidier,i can almost see my desk...i did say almost!

In Remembrance

On wednesday i took a trip in to London to meet up with a very dear friend and we visited the Tower of London to see the poppy commemoration. There will be 888,246 handmade ceramic poppies altogether, each one representing a British fatality in the First World War and the photograph shows some of the volunteers we saw planting the next phase. The display will be there until Remembrance Day,after which the poppies will be sold with some of the proceeds being shared between six service charities. The sea of red surrounding The Tower really is a wonderful and moving sight. Here are two cards i have enjoyed making this week.

My Crafting Story

In 1999 my then 11 year old beautiful daughter Chantelle was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome (a form of Autism) , learning disabilities and shortly after Bipolar. She was just at the age to start secondary school and i was looking forward to going back to work after being a stay-at-home mum, unfortunately it didn't quite work out that way. With countless meetings with professionals and my daughters problems growing day by day i needed to be available 24/7 so the idea of working had to be put on hold again as i became her carer. After a long period of extremely stressful times that really took their toll, eventually things calmed down a little and i began to have some 'me time'....something i hadn't had in a long while. Flicking through the tv one day i stumbled across a craft show....that was it,i was hooked!! What started it's humble beginnings as just one kit has now turned into an overflowing craft room....something i think we can all relate to! Since joining the cUp community in 2011 i have made some very special friends, people whose shoulder i can cry on when things are bad and those who make me cry with laughter. We still have some bad times but crafting helps me to relax and go in to my own little world, away from the stresses of life. I know from talking to many crafters over the years that a lot of us have a story behind the reason we started this hobby. So that's my crafting story, whats yours?....please share them,it would be lovely to hear them. Here are two of my favourite designs of the moment....
