Pets

Anyone who has had pets will know the heart ache that comes along with loosing them. It is still very painful after the loss of my little dog Roxie two years ago. And about 3 weeks ago I lost little Popcorn.

Death of a pet is never ever easy. :( And recently a friend has lost his beloved Bassett hound. It is never easy, but is a part of life. After the loss of my little dog I got another one as it was a tribute to her to save another life.

And now we have little Millie who is such a big part of our life now.

I will probably get another little rescue hedgehog to look after sometime soon too.

Butterflies And Bees

Two years ago I redid our front border to make it more bee friendly. We had some budleia decide to grow on its own, and as you know I let volunteer plants grow.

We keep trimming it down to be more of a hedge than bushes and it seems to have produced more flowers.

And this year is full of both butterflies and bees. :) We need to look after our little winged friends too.

You Just Never Know

I am one of those types of gardeners that if a plant wants to grow it will and if it doesnt then try again another time.

We have several hanging baskets growing in the garden and some half baskets too on walls and fences.

This year we have a sunflower probably thanks to the birds that has decided to grow in a half basket.

I had to keep Brian from pulling it out, and now I am glad I did. :) It has really turned out bright and cheery.

Wild Hedgehohgs And Heatwaves

Hi everyone. I have a big request of each and everyone, no matter where you live. Please put down bowls of water on the ground. Lots have bird baths for the birds, but other creatures need water too.

I have had two small hedgehogs in here this past week one was really dehydrated and a friend of mine has also had a very very dehydrated hoglet in, It is still touch and go with it.

She has named him little Crispin. She has a bit of a wicked sense of humor, but you need one somtimes to put up with what we have to put up with in animal rescues or you wouldnt last long.

My two here are named Pat (neighbor ladies named her after me. and the other is little Lily. Lily doesnt even have teeth yet! I will look after them now until they are ready to go back to the wild. Which wont be for some months ahead yet.

Pat is ill, and I am having to do some of my magic to try to get her better, which consists of medications and some hand feeding and tlc.

Little Lily is just a tiny baby and so will need hand feeds of specialist foods to help get her up big and strong.

So if you all could do a little bit of putting out water and if you want to feed them too, some kitten biscuits or cat food would be appreciated.

Never ever give a hedgehog milk as they are lactose intolerant and if ill it could kill them. Thanks. :)

Brownie Is Settling In

Brownie has now been here a few weeks and she is settling in just fine. This is a photo of her after she has had her bath. I give her and Popcorn baths every few days to keep them healthy.

They have delicate skin so I have to use a special oatmeal soap for them. She and I are still getting used to one another. I think I trusted her too early as she managed to get in a few nips that felt like really strong pinches.

We have a bit of a cuddle after bath time.

Sometimes I let her run about on the bed and she loves to head for the pillow mountains. :)
