I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year ahead. :) Sorry I had to take a bit of a break, I had some charity items to catch up on.
Do you remember the needle felted dog fur items I did.
Well my friend submitted it to a dogs Magazine over here so I had to do a piece for that.
And we came up with a hopeful fund raiser for the rescue...... I had to needle felt 40 heart Christmas ornaments. And embroider, bead and hand sew them together. I was working straight from morning till night on them.
I did manage to get those finished and then two other friends had a table top sale and invited me to join them.
So I was busy with my crocheting for that with the proceeds of my sale going to Vale Wildlife Rescue.
And finally I have joined another charity and will be in the future making things for Knit A Square charity.
I have done some squares for blankets already and finished a hat and some handwarmers for the children. I think once the holidays are over then I can get back to doing my designing again along with the knitting.
Hope your holidays are happy ones.
Last Saturday there was a dog show and fun day at our local park. We took Millie for a day out. I have never seen so many dogs in one place before and who were having fun. No fights, just happy barking and tail wags. It was really lovely.
Millie never stopped smiling the whole time we were there. She had a go at flyball, twice! Then she had a go at the agility course too. Then she did the hurdles at 6 seconds. She helped me with my pork roast sandwich and a few chips.
She also got a new harness that hopefully she cant escape when she gets a fright. Overall, it was a great day out for her and for us too.
Poor Millie has been burried in yarn for the moment. This is only a little of the stash. I have been doing a bit more knitting and crocheting lately and with winter around the corner I know I will be doing alot more.
I happend upon a job lot of wool that I bid on and won............500 balls!!! This is going to keep me busy for quite some time.....
Jumpers for my grand daughter for Christmas, Hats and scarves for the family and then there is my various charities....Nest for my friends Wild Life Rescue, blankets for the cat rescue, some squares and toys for my friends Knit a Square charity.
And who knows whatever else I take a fancy to making with this lovely yarn. I just couldnt pass up a bargain. :)
Sometimes I like challenges, and especially fun ones that help others. I belong to a couple of groups of crafty friends who do things for charity. And I had a challenge in two of them latley.
One we held a little auction and my friend from Chaldon Animal Sanctuary was auctioning off what she called unicorn feathers.....
I knew exactly what it was and I bid and won the auction. It was some fur from one of her rescue dogs. She washed and dried it before sending to me.
I do a little bit of needle felting so took on the challenge to help her raise even more fundsfor the rescue.
So I made some brooches with the fur and some wool and beads I had already.
We auctioned them off along with some heart brooches and raised another £25 for the rescue. :) Then I had a message from another friend who does knitting for Knit A Square Charity and she wanted to know how to do some crocheted olympic rings.
I have been crocheting since I was 7 years old. So took on the challenge to make a set for her. They will go onto a square she has made for a blanket that will go to keep a child in Africa warm.
The Knit a Square charity makes blankets, toys and hats for children who are orphaned by or who themselves have Aids.
Both are great charities and both worthy challenges. :)
I have a group of friends on the internet who do little group auctions to help various charities. One of them actually runs a Dog and Cat Sanctuary. She had an auction of what she called unicorn feathers......
I knew exactly what it was and since I do a bit of hand needle felting thought okay I will bid on it and see if I cant make something from it and make her a bit more for the animals.
So she sent me the fur.... a bit bemused. I then turned them into the following brooches. The fur is from one of her favourite dogs.
The person who won the auction has asked me to send the brooches to the friend who runs the rescue. :) She should be getting them today.
It will be a reminder of her good work and her favourite dog. :)
