Our Library Is Celebrating 10 Year Anniversary

Our local little library is celebrating their 10 year Anniversary next month. And since our knitting group has been meeting there for 9 years now, they asked if we could contribute to the celebration.

So the girls have been busy making squares to turn into a bunting for the celebration and then will turn it into a blanket for Charity afterwards.

I thought I might make a few dolls and different things for the top of the shelves. And I finally finished my first doll. I plan on doing several more and having them reading books. :) This is the photo of my first doll.

I am going to be a bit busy this month, with all the crocheting, designing, gardening and my dialysis. Next month I can get back to my sock knitting for the nursing staff and possibly do some more things for the neonatal unit at the hospital.

Love making things for the babies.

Gardening My Other Passion

I not only enjoy designing and knitting, but I love my garden. It is my place of solitude and helped me get through last year. It is a place I can go to and escape for a bit without even leaving home.

I have a little robin who lives in it and sings to me just about every day. I do give him food and he thanks me with is song. It is now coming to the time of year to start vegetable plants for the garden. These are my first lot of seedlings.... Some tomato plants and some herbs and coleus plants. The tomatoes are Purple cherry types.

I grew last year and they have such wonderful flavour. The variety is Indigo Blue. I thought I would decorate the garden with the coleus plants, but I didnt realize so many seedlings would sprout!!

I ran out of energy repotting them, so will have to save the rest for another day.

Socks

I learned to knit socks over the past couple of years. I did start doing one at a time and have progressed to doing two at a time now. The first pair didnt come out the same size. They do now.

I was at dialysis and was doing my sock knitting working on a pair for my late husband and one of the patients commented he would like a pair.

And then it progressed and the nurses said the same. So After finishing the pair for my husband I got to work on the pair for the patient and then the nurses.

I thought knitting some for the nurses is a way I can pay them back in a small way for them looking after me and the others.

I have a book that I have shoe sizes in and when I finish a pair I start another pair.

I have made for 6 pairs so far and almost finished the 7th. I have loads more to do yet.

But seems I will be on dialysis for the rest of my life. So will keep me busy knitting.

Im Back

Hi all, yes, I am back designing again. I am getting used to a new normal here. The past few years havent been very kind to me, but I am hoping the future will be. I had some major health issues that have changed my life tremendously.

I have kidney failure and go for dialysis 3 days a week. Along with having to deal with that and having a few heart attacks, my poor husband came down with dementia rather rapidly and then this past October he passed away.

I have had to give up rescuing hedgehogs as I cant take the chance of getting an infection from them.

I do have my rescue dog Millie and she has been my rock. Without her I dont think I could have gotten through this past year. I am having to learn a whole new way of life now and I need to slow down doing some things and designing will hopefully help me.

I hope you all will enjoy my new designs and ideas that are to come. I have missed everyone and hope to get back into the swing of things again.

Time To Get Walking

Well I had a bit of a scare this past month. I ended up in A&E because I was having chest pains. Have had to take life a little easier for a bit and now I am trying to get a bit more fit.

So we are busy walking here.

Brian already does alot of walking and Millie does too, so it is time for me to start doing more too.

I have worked up to 2 miles at a go now. :) But the problem is this walking is cutting into my crafting time.

So I did a bit of research and since I started knitting socks I came up with an idea that I could make.....

A knitting bag that I can take on my walks and knit while walking. :) I first made a prototype bag from some scrap fabric and designed the pattern on newspaper.

After making it up and testing it and the help of my knitting friends, I made some alterations to make the handle slightly smaller and the bag bit a little deeper and there are two pockets on it too with velcro fasteners for mobile, pattern, etc.

I am knitting a pair of socks for my grand daughter for her birthday coming up so took those along on our walk.

The problem is the weather has gone freezing, so my fingers were cold. Once it warms up I think I will be fine. I did manage two rows on the sock. Also Millie keeps thinking that it is a treat bag.

LOL So kept walking in front of me looking for a treat. I will perservere.
