We had a delightful time baking Christmas cookies this year! New designs and cutters were used. The sugar cookies recipe was changed too, and we DID not add flour when cutting the dough.
Mostly, if we needed it, powdered sugar was used, but most of the time new silicone sheets were used with parchment paper for baking.
We are already looking toward Valentines Day for lucious ideas!
Each year our little town, Dunnellon, Florida, has a Christmas Parade. The floats, groups or vehicles are owned, decorated and operated by various business, church and organization owners in our town.
This year we had Mr. and Mrs.
Kringle, elves, a huge Mack truck, complete with lights and many other entries. The community, children and adults alike, enjoyed a fun and festive evening. There were many businesses open for food, beverages and services. Traveling down route 41, the main street, the parade lasted about 1 1/2 hours.
Its such a wonderful tradition that began many years ago, when the city was a Boom Town.
A local church and high school staged a live theatre performance, featuring a theft mystery. The entire cast was selected from the students at the high school. A riveting and intriguing script was written by one of the English teachers, who is an awarded playwright.
Vocalists were from the student body and were exceptionally well trained. Their voices and the ranges sounded like professionals! My friend Lisa and I enjoyed the show PLUS dinner for only $10 per person!
The dinner was excellent as well and consisted of BBQ chicken, the best garlic potatoes Ive ever tasted and green beans.
The meager price also included desserts like cupcakes and holiday, beautifully decorated cookies. A very nice evening had by all!
Well its getting a little cooler here in the southern part of the United States. I am about 1 hours from Disney World and thought Id go with the granddaughters to visit. They loved the rides and exhibits.
They are such swimmers, their favorite evening spot was one of the gorgeous swimming pools in the park.
Our church has and is continuing to pack food, clothing, medical supplies and personal care items to take to Miami and Puerto Rico.
After Irma hit these areas, the survivors need everything! Schools, hospitals and homes were destroyed, so we are doing our best to get supplies down to them.
Our community is donating money, food and school supplies! There is so much to do, and because we live in a hurricane area, it could happen again.
