Pink Sea!

Last night we had a beautiful sunset and it made the sea look pink. This photo is completely un-retouched. The sea really did look pink! I'm attaching a couple of my new designs - both themed around vans - one is a card and one is a little model.

Island Hopping

On Friday we decided to leave the island and have a trip up the west coast of Scotland to Mallaig.

The weather was beautiful and the scenery matched. My husband was impressed with how much the road had improved since the last time we used it many years ago.

My mother-in-law had never been to the area before and she loved it.

We had a quick look round and watched the activity in the harbour, including the ferry leaving for who knows where, then it was a quick cup of coffee and back in the car to go to Fort William for the oldies to browse the shops whilst we bought some food at the supermarket.

We had to catch 2 ferries to get home but it had been a lovely day out and a nice change for us to get off the island too!

The photograph is of some of the boats in Mallaig harbour and the cards are my new concept Armchair Easel cards.

Today wasn't such nice weather so we decided just to go up to the waterfall behind our house. We sat in the car and had a picnic of hot sausage sandwiches! We looked for wildlife but unfortunately all the animals must have been sheltering from the rain.

Better luck tomorrow we hope!

This week I have my in-laws staying with me so we had a trip up to Tobermory. The weather was lovely - it was just a shame I had a swollen face and raging toothache! This is me with Tobermory pier behind me.

You may recognise the colourful buildings if you have small children who like the TV programme Balamory. (My tooth has now been fixed!)

This is old news but I thought you might find it interesting. A few years ago I owned a bed and breakfast in Craignure on the Isle of Mull.

A French film crew booked to stay with me and while they were there I made friends with them and helped them out with researching locations for their film. They were based in Paris and after they went home we kept in touch.

The owner of the business, Jean-Christophe, emailed me and invited me to go to Paris to a film festival and the premiere of their film.

Naturally I jumped at the chance! The festival lasted 5 days and on the final night there was a "Night of the Explorers", which consisted of lots of very famous explorers telling us stories of their exploits.

The most famous of these explorers were Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin. Imagine my delight when I found out I was invited to a cocktail party afterwards with all the VIPs! It's a week I'll never forget.
